Well, I saw my podiatrist last Wednesday for my 1-month check-up. He was excited to see that my wound had scabbed over, but my x-ray showed that my bone isn’t growing as fast as we would like. He said that I had to limit my activity still.
So Saturday came, and my foot was hurting more than it had in a while. I did have a photography job the day before, and I was on my feet for about 3 hours, including trekking through the snow and climbing up and down stairs and ladders. It was swollen around the site, and it was sensitive to touch. I texted my podiatrist a picture, and he asked that we meet him at his office. 20 minutes later, he suspected an infection, so he prescribed an antibiotic. He said that if it didn’t feel better by Monday, then he was going to have to open the site and dig around.
We slept in Sunday morning, and when I got up, my foot pain had subsided during the night. It was still red and swollen but not as bad. As the day went on, the worst it became. It didn’t help that my dog jumped on my foot and his collar scraped my foot at another time. The icing on the cake was when my boyfriend sat on it. It exploded, so I sent a picture to my podiatrist. I wonder how his wife feels about him receiving gross feet pictures at all hours of the day. I absolutely hate feet, lol.
So, 20 minutes later, we were back in his office. This time, he did open the site to look around, and it was deeper than it should be. I shouldn’t have looked. The infection had spread to the hardware, so he’s going to have to remove it. There are three options on how surgery is going to go, but I won’t know until I wake up. He also took a sample to see what kind of infection it is. We are hoping that I’m not going to have to be admitted and hooked up to an IV. I will have to be on additional antibiotics for three months. I asked about amputation, and he said we won’t even talk about that, lol. He’s confident that isn’t going to happen. I wouldn’t be surprised if it did, I have bad luck with things that are said to be “rare cases.”
So now it is 2 AM, Monday, and surgery is in maybe 16 hours. I won’t know until he talks to the surgery department. I’m stressed, annoyed, and on the verge of having a mental breakdown. But I have to remind myself that it isn’t the end of the world. I emailed my school advisors about needing to drop out of the semester because I won’t be able to put weight on my foot for 3 months. The thought of walking across campus, especially with snow and ice, is very scary. So this pushes graduation yet again. Maybe I’m destined to be in school for the rest of my life?
I’m also disappointed because I was just starting to get busy with my photography. š I guess everything happens for a reason…
On another note, we watched Enola Holmes 2 the other night. I enjoyed it, and I hope they make a 3rd one! Please comment with movie, tv shows, and audiobook recommendations. This is going to be a long recovery, just like the last one.
We wish you a speedy recovery!

Hope everything goes okay, with your surgery. Whatever’s’ going on with your foot, based on some of the things you’ve written recently that I’ve read, it sounds very, very frustrating and worrisome.
How ironic, I watched the first Enola Holmes with my family over the weekend, haha! We thought it was really good, it was an awesome kind of movie to watch as a family though my 15 year old found it a little precious (he didn’t like Brown breaking the 4th wall, I found it a little corny but it was okay with me). And it was a bonus to have Henry Cavill, in it. takes a little sting out of the fact he apparently will not return for another season in the Witcher.
We couldn’t finish the last season of Stranger Things, it became too much like regular horror. So it was pretty fun to watch Bobby Milly Brown (sp) flex her chops in something else
