Another Year Ending…

Just a couple more days and it’ll be 2022! I am really hoping 2022 will be a better year for everyone. For New Years Eve we will be spending it with friends. It’ll be nice to see them.

I’ve been wanting to write a post but have been in such a funk the past 2-3 months. I feel that I am coming out of it though. I’ve spent a good chunk of my time watching TV: The OC, Gossip Girl, Big Little Lies, Sex and the City series, Sex and the City: Just Like That… quite a few others plus movies.

The semester ended a couple of weeks ago, but I took an extension for 2 classes. The small car accident in October really messed me up. I’m seeing my acupuncturist 2 times a week and physical therapist once a week. I am so over having appointments every week. I just want to have a week off to do whatever I want.

I’ve been slacking on my health journey and plan on hitting it full force starting January 1st. I know you really do not need to and shouldn’t wait until January 1st, but it is just refreshing/motivating. .. plus all the holiday junk will be gone by then. I’ll have around 125 days to feel better for our vacation with my parents.

Thanksgiving day was nice. My boyfriend’s mom came over for dinner. We had our usual holiday feast: ham, mashed potatoes (and this time mashed sweet potatoes), green bean casserole, stuffing and pie. We had leftovers for over a week. I ended making ham soup with the ham to finish it off.

We are still using Hello Fresh and it is still pretty fun and delicious. I found out that I am a huge fan of Couscous! We are skipping the next couple of weeks and will start again once the semester starts. It really is helpful when we have really busy schedules.

The first week of December we sent our corgi off to boarding school for two weeks. It’s funny how we were looking forward to having a “break” from his shenanigans, but that first night he was away was really hard, then it got harder each night. I imagine this is what it is like for parents when their children go off to camp for a week or for the summer. Luckily we were able to see him after the first week and then he came home in time for Christmas. He’s gotten better with listening to us but we need to really be diligent about keeping up with his training. We have noticed that he seems to be “sweeter,” he snuggles us and the cats more, so he must be grateful for our family.

Christmas holiday was… many things. Disappointing, then stressful, then good. It’s my favorite holiday, but feel like I haven’t been in the Christmas spirit the last few years. My boyfriend isn’t into holidays, so that makes it hard. We didn’t get our Christmas tree until the week of Christmas and then it sat in our garage for about 2 days until we set it up. I almost forwent the tree and was going to use my Avocado Tree, but it looked too weird.

My boyfriend’s mom came over on Christmas day. We started off with a little charcuterie board and watched Home Alone 1. For dinner we had ham, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and stuffing. For dessert I baked Santa’s Favorite Monster Cookies while we watched Home Alone 2. Then the day after Christmas, I finished baking the rest of the cookie dough and my boyfriend and I finished watching the Harry Potter movies.

Very “bright,” it’s blinding.

I’m getting back in touch with my creative side. I was stuck in quite the rut. I haven’t had a photo shoot in awhile, mostly due to school and my internship — I haven’t had time to really advertise photo session availability… But I plugged in and turned on my Cricut Maker on Christmas Eve. I got it last year and have only used it a handful of times. I made my boyfriend’s mom a Christmas card and since then I haven’t been able to stop thinking and searching for project ideas.

Added the pics to our pets’ food bins

Tonight I found some vinyl and transfer paper at the Dollar Store and thought I’d try my hand at that. I found the dog and cat images on Google. I didn’t do too bad… messed up a bit but it could be the quality of my supplies. I still like it and my boyfriend says it’s cute. I’ve ordered more supplies and they should be arriving tomorrow, so I know what I will be doing this weekend! If you have any ideas on what I should make, please comment below!

I think the lowest it has gotten has been -4°F and averages around 0°F.

It is going to get busy again in 2 weeks: on the 10th, we’ll be celebrating our 7-year anniversary (or 8th?), then the 15th is my birthday and then Spring school semester begins on the 19th.

Hopefully I will get a chance to post again this weekend. Until then, I hope you have a fabulous New Years Eve and Day!
